Hey all-

Last weekend I came across a lady on CL who just wanted to get 2 bikes out of her house because she is going to travel the world. This is a Peugeot that I am going to flip. What model and everything is it? I have searched and could not find a whole lot. It is very nice shape but the paint has some kind of odidation or wear or something on it. Its got Suntour DT friction shifters, and Suntour derailers. It also has Weinmann brakes. Its got Wobler Super CHamipion 27" wheels as well. I put new cables and housing on and I also overhauled the bb. What do you gus think I get get for this in the Portland market? I was thinking like $250? Let me know what you all think!

Anytime you have an inquiry about a Peugeot model Jim's site is the way to go!

Looks like a PH10L from 84'. Would make a fine commuter for anyone out there. Also the parts are Simplex I believe and not Suntour.
If you want to sell the rear derailleur let me know. I'm quite fond of that model and have become addicted to collecting them.

As for value... $250 seems quite high for a PH10L unless it's absolutely mint and you take some fancy pics with a nice description. Portland's market seems comparable to the Bay Area, CA and I'd say it would fetch $150ish. However, CL is funny sometimes so who knows?

If a bike shop was selling that bike with the shop's own "satisfaction" warranty, they could get $200 or $250 eventually. For a private seller, it is a bit more difficult..to get more than $150 you will need to find a Peugeot fanatic. Good luck.

Thanks for the link. I guess I just cant navigate as well as you guys. I just posted a fairly hi price of $300. Oh well, it will give me a lot of room to accept offers.

If you're unable to flip it and decide to part it out (fixie sell?) let me know. I'd like that read derailleur

Does Velo Orange sell that same Simplex derailleur?

Just checked and they don't stock it. I do believe they did at one point in time.

People sure seem to want that. Can anyone tell me why it is so desirable? I really like to way it looks and everything but what so good about it?

I don't think it's sought after like campy stuff, but it's a good derailleur. It's the lower version or little brother to the Simplex SLJ derailleurs which go for big bucks. I bought one recently on Ebay for $20 shipped if I remember correctly.

EDIT: Heh, I guess I stand slightly corrected... Not everyone loves the model

Oh, alright. Yeah I figured it wasnt the nicest, or the worst. Kind of in between. Back on topic however, what do you guys realistically this will go for in Portland? i have it listed for $300, but I will settle for $200 I think.

I think this was answered a few times in this thread. $200 would be absolute highest with $150 being the realistic figure. $150 seems to be what it would get in my area and Peugeots seem to sell pretty well here.

Oh alright. Thanks then. I think the Portland Market is quite a bit higher than most every market out there. I think $225 is quite doable.

Portland market is quite similiar to the San Francisco/Bay Area market. I'd take some nice pics and add some useful links in the description if you wanna net $225. I think it'd be possible, but you may have to get lucky with a Peugeot enthusiast.

What he said.

If that bike is clean, mechanically sound, ready-to-ride, and presents well, you should have no problem gettng $250 for it. I'd leave it at $300 for a bit, and see what happens. If no bites, re-list for $250 and watch it disappear.

Peugeots are funny that way - even low-end ones in nice shape get $200 in a hot market.

I need to take some better pictures of it for sure. But I had a guy look at it today and I guess it wasnt what he was looking for lol. I have it at $275. I think I will just leave it and let some newb bite on it.

LMAO, great point. Well I am almost positive I have a buyer for it listed at $275. I still need to figure out why the bike is not shifting correctly however. The shifter for the RD is not staying tight so it is slipping and immediately returning into the forward position what the nut comes loose. Also, I took of the RD and cleaned it and after the new cable and reinstall of it, something is rubbing on the chain. It seems to be the chain on the lower pulley housing. Anyone know why or how to fix?

Sounds like the bike needs a minor tune and its good to go.

The pic with the shift lever in it sucks but I think there's something amiss.

$175-200 in Tampa.

Can you possibly elaborate on that Jim? I plan on swinging by the lbs and having them figure it out. Usually they do little work like that for free for me. Lol I am the bar-tape-purchasing king.
