Hey,
so today i set out for a ride and all was good and sunny in biking land. then it started raining. all was still good because it was warm and the ride ended up being quite enjoyable except for two minor problems.
1. i lost a bolt/washer for my spd-sl cleat and unclipping was a pain...not a problem because ill just hit up the lbs later and grab another.
2. my shoes are completely soaked through...what do you do to dry them off quickly (or do you just not do anything)? i thought about putting them in the dryer on this shoe rack thing we have but im afraid the heat may affect the plastic soles.

Stuff them tightly with crumpled up newspaper. they will be good to go real quick.

Wet shoes? I went into an empty public bathroom and used the hand-dryer on it. Sounds smelly but hey, better than riding in a pair of soaked shoes and socks :D

i ended up riding home with them all wet and it wasnt all that bad (it was pretty hot). i ended up putting towels in them. seems to have worked pretty well.

The newspaper idea is a good one because it wicks the moisture out of the leather. You can change the paper after a couple of hours and help speed up the process.

This one has always worked for me. I put the newspaper in the wet shoes (being sure to get some into the toes) and after 30 minutes or so, I take it out and replace. The next day, they might be a little damp but they will be ok.

That's what my mom taught me to do to dry shoes. Seems to be mom's standard procedure everywhere. Genetic memory?

Using hot air on shoes is generally a bad idea. It ruins the leather by drying it out too much on the surface, while the deeper layers are still damp.

Newspaper is the best idea.
