Here is an idea that I wonder if anybody has tried:

How about using the front hub of a moped motorcycle, with its integrated drum brake as a rear hub on a tandem build?

I doubt anybody with access to standard tandem parts would try such a thing, but it is a reasonable question here in Argentina, where tandem specific parts are not available, and people are creative in their chop shop tandem contruction, a la Sheldon Brown. Shame Sheldon is not around, he might have given the idea some thought.

Any coments?

Below is the original question:

How are you going to get any gears on that front hub?

Would need friendly lathes-man. to machine a part to mount a freewheel, I wonder how wide the whole contraption would end up, and how heavy.
