Hey, I'll be in Daytona Beach until late June, and was wondering what the good rides were and also if there were any good mountain biking trails nearby (no car :\).
I was also wondering if anyone does ride in daytona beach and would like to get out on the weekends and/or weekday evenings.
One last question would be if anyone knows how to get to the beach (preferablly ponce) with a surfboard if I have no way of attaching it to my back and biking there (again no car; tried the bus but the driver kicked me off :\)

MTB Bike trails are slim to none in Daytona. Very very short like 100 yards with no banks or jumps. There is a 8 mile track in New Smyrna. Also a nice one in Palm Coast off Colbert. For the surfboard when I was a kid I used to ride to Ponce at least 4 days a week but I had a rack for the bike I have also just held it in my arm and rode with one hand. The is a couple of surf shops on A1A in Port Orange area like the Mad Dog shop across from the Sunglow Pier. Also if you are up for a long ride there are alot of surfshops in New Smyrna Beach that rent boards and speaking of rentals there are the trucks on the beach in Daytona the rent Foam Boards. MTB is so poor in this area I swappe to a semi slick tire to just kill the streets and ride on the beach with.
You can find a few routes in and around the area here (http://www.daytonabikeclub.org/rides/localrides.html), and to start off I would recommend the Tour de Loop (any of its variations). Its flat, scenic and lots of bikers. There is also a good amount of shade on the Ormond loop section (23 mile) which you will appreciate in the middle of summer. You need to ride early too, the July heat and humidity in Florida can be staggering.
