I think the answer is no unless you get a travel case. Would love to hear if anyone has a good solution, as it would be awesome to be able to travel with my Swift.

The Swift is packable in a suitcase. I think there are examples on the Xootr site.

I've managed packing mine in a large suitcase by removing the removing the pivot bolt, and doing some careful positioning in the case. All in all it took about 45 minutes to disassemble everything and figure out how to make it fit. I suspect I could do it a bit quicker, now that I know how.

I forgot about that, thanks. Instructions are here: http://www.xootr.com/swift-suitcase-packing-instructions.html. I don't have a hard-sided suitcase, so I guess I'm out of luck.

I see you're in Oakland. If you join the San Francisco Bike Coalition (sfbike.org) they have bike boxes you can borrow for free (against a deposit). Most airlines are charging outrageous fees to bring bikes these days, so make sure to check before planning a trip.

Virgin Atlantic still allow bikes for free. Y'all know of any other airlines that are bike friendly?

I managed with a soft-side suitcase. I just wrapped bits in bubble wrap, and lined the inside of the case with a couple of layers of cardboard. I'm not saying this is the best idea, but it did work for me. I also stuffed a bunch of dirty clothes in case for a little added protection.
