Great Lakes - Chicago bike map

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I just got my Chicago bike map in the mail today. I am really impressed with how professionally made it is. Seems like a lot of people invested a lot of time to produce it. I'm just curious who pays for all that? Is this the responsibility of the DOT? how would one go about suggesting improvements to it? is there some bicycling committee?

I assumed that the Chicagoland Bike Federation - now the Active Transportation Alliance (http://www.activetrans.org/) - memberships paid for some of it. Give them a call, they're really friendly and helpful.

The printing is paid for by a sponsor, currently AT&T. Chase pulled out of all bike-related sponsorship in 2009.
The map is produced by the City of Chicago's DOT with the help of Active Transportation Alliance. Memberships don't pay for it.
All of this information is found on the map itself.
