Got my Planet Bike in today and hooked to my generator hub. Nice clean install.

What a light! If this sucker won't get the drivers attention I don't know what will.

Is it brighter than the 1 Watt? In other words does it have a different bulb that can utilize the 2.4 - 3 watts that the dynamo generates?

It's a one watt. I haven't seen either the schematic for the hub or the light and not sure where or how the regulation occurs but It's never a great idea to pull a full load on a regulator.

On the lighting circuits I work on (airport stuff) we max load regulators to 85% capacity.

But this is an apples and oranges thing maybe.

I'm not good with electronics, but the Busch and Müller lights do use 2.4 or 3 Watt bulbs. I'm guessing that the hubs produce more wattage than that.

Now that LED lights are so bright and run so long (my batteries last me several months of commuting 5 days a week), why choose the expense and complication of a generator? Is there another benefit to them that I'm missing?

The only one I can think of is the dead-battery thing, but that's why I run 2 fronts and 2 rears - so I have a fallback.

Nice setup, BTW. I dimly remember when my Dahon Mu P8 looked that clean. ;)

What is that mount? I want to mount a light in front of a Curve to replace the reflector. Thanks in advance.

Ditto, that mount is pretty sweet.

I bought the mount at a Japanese LBS and got home a promptly threw away the cardboard backing it was zip tied to. No clue what it is. Next time I go there (likely this weekend) I'll check and post back.

It was 630 yen, I remember that or roughly 6 or 7 US dollars.
