Touring - Rain Covers for Shoes

This has probably been posted already but, looking for raincovers for MTB type shoes size 45 (11US)
I found the covers from MEC but dont want to pay an extra $5.00 to join their co-op for a 1 time purchase.
Advice please

You've already spend $5 for the electricity to run the computer, a prorated portion of the cost of the computer, a prorated portion of the house you live in for the computer and the time you spend looking for the covers in the first place:rolleyes:

Back when Burley got hosed, they used to make a raincover for shoes. But they don't make them anymore. I haven't seen anything around for a long time. The ones at MEC look pretty good. Put a crowbar in your wallet, spend the $5 and buy them:rolleyes:;)

I'm a member and though I don't shop there very much, its still money well spent (I believe in their mission). Apart from REI which has gotten away from its mission, MEC is less expensive and 1/5th the membership fee.
BTW I also want a pair of MEC's rain booties and may pick some up this summer (when their on sale) direct from their store in Victoria.

Real Cheap.
I went to a Salvation Army Thrift Store.
Bought 2 rain XL jackets for $1.25 each.
Cut Off the sleeves to use as booties in the rain.
Use electrical tape to put them on.

I thought the MEC shoecovers were a little pricey too. But I couldn't find anything else that would work for my size 14 feet. I bought them and I'm glad I did. They work exactly as I hoped they would. When you have to ride through a rainy couple of days you might be glad you spent the money.

I think he was kidding you...lighten up. Some times it is worth supporting a company who researches and finds interesting stuff. This is a site where sharing and sometimes lilght humour of the needling variety is found...so don't take it personal. Have fun riding this summer.

Different strokes I guess, but I agree that it has never occurred to me to take my shoe covers on tour. I reserve them for winter riding and I don't tour in winter. It does get cool to cold at high elevations sometimes, but I have still never really wished I was carrying them. Maybe the OP tours when/where it gets colder than where I tour though.

I've got the MEC shoe covers and FWIW they are great! They fit over my racing shoes and they fit over my work boots too (which are way bigger). The covers are also totally bomber.

Thanks AnnaMossity, that's the kind of information I needed. Been planning on picking some of these up but haven't heard much about them and wasn't sure.

My MTB style shoes are completely synthetic - no leather or organic fabric to rot, so I wear waterproof socks and let the shoes take care of themselves. No problem if they don't dry completely overnight. Just hose them down after I get home.
