For comparison purposes, I'm trying to find the lumen output of a Cateye Micro Halogen, which is what I'm currently using. But it seems that it's not available. Anyone know what it is? I'm considering going with a flashlight setup, but I'd like to know how they compare to my Micro Halogen. I don't really want to go with a 2-AA LED flashlight if it's the same (or only slightly better) then my 4-AA halogen setup.

I haven't got a Cateye halagon, but I do have several others.

I was recently in the same situation as you and eventually (and reluctantly) bought an Ultrafire WF606A Q5.

I was amazed by how easily it outperformed my halogen lights.

Highly recommended.

You'll soon be wondering how you rode about with so little light - then you'll buy a P7 :)

I own a Marwi Nightpro Torch 6v 15w halogen bike light. It was over $100 new. My $36 MTE SSC P7 easily outperforms it. You will not be disappointed if you go the P7 route.

I have three micro halogen lights. They were my original randonneuring lights. While I don't know the lumen output exactly, I can venture a guess based on comparing it to other lights that I have and do know the rated lumens. My guess is about 30 to 40 lumen. Not exactly scientific, but it is the best I can do.

FWIW ... I have a two-cell AA Fenix LED that easily outperforms the cateye in terms of brightness, beam pattern, and run time. Not to mention a heck of a lot smaller.

I would say around 30-40 lumens, per the excellent British website reflectalite.com.

Not a bad guesstimate on my part then :)
