Here's a tribute to the best bicycle gears ever.
If you don't agree, then post what you think are the two best chainring/cog combination.

I don't actually live in the city of Rochester, I'm in the Village of Spencerport.

Do you do group rides? You can usually find me either on the Show and Go thursday rides at Ellison park in Penfield or on the Saturday morning latte rides starting from the village of Pittsford.

Nah, I've only been on one group ride since I moved here from Ontario, but I do ride the Erie Canal Path a lot. I'm on the path from about 3:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., cause I'm doing the 24/7 Challenge. 7 Days, 700 Miles, 100 Miles per Day, the cumulative time of all 7 Days less than 24 Hours. I'm on the 5th day. It sucks. :(

You're doing this by yourself? Canal path only? Sounds a bit lonesome.

Yes, very lonely indeed. I found myself talking to myself on the second day, I was introducing myself to a new friend, myself... apparently he's a cyclist too.
Eh?
Hmmm. How about 62/11 for a high gear?

Not with little tiny wheels and one of those la-z-boy bikes.

Yup! I ride a 'bent. It's a compact long wheelbase Rans Tailwind. 20" wheels. Chainring is 42/52/62 and the cassette is 28-11. The granny climbs like a mountian bike and according to the math the high end should net 40 MPH at a cadence of 120. Of course that would be down a pretty decent hill. Even though it is heavier that my old Trek 1000 aluminum road bike it actually rides easier and is quicker off of the line at a stoplight. After only a couple of weeks I've been able to pretty much match the speeds of the road bike when I was at the equivalent level of conditioning on it. LOVE MY 'BENT.
