But for a guy who's coming off 4 years of drinking beer and riding his bike 100 miles a week followed by a bunch of pins in a broken collarbone 8 weeks ago, that Lance is riding like a friggin beast in the 2nd biggest Grand Tour on the planet. And he has another 5 weeks to get ready for the TdF?
God help them all. That's all I can say.

always has been ... which makes his accomplishments all the more suspect.

Lance has been very impressive. I've gotten the feeling a couple times that he could have ridden away from Levi if he wanted to. Honestly, though, Contador is a different kettle of fish. I just can't see Lance competing consistently at that level.
Right now he looks 15lbs heavier than when he last won the tour.
His daily videos are cool.

Shouldn't he be higher up in the GC given he's just 5 weeks from the TdF? Even if to help Contador win, that would mean he'd have to finish close to Contador. Unless he pulls a Popo and peels off halfway up a climb after dictating some peloton pain. Can he be just a teammate helping out on a climbing stage or two, or driving the peloton during a chase?

Props to LA but Horner was riding better before he broke his leg.

Agreed. He had 1 rough day, but he was pretty much hanging with Levi and ahead of Lance.
