Hey, Im thinking about changing my mountian bikes tires to some thing a bit smoother as Im mainly using it on roads at the moment. Im looking for something that can handle some rain and not the smoothest of roads with maybe a little dusty stuff. So not total slicks. What would you recomend? No more than £20 a tire probably.

Armadillo's and be damned the cost!
You will never regret it.
Nimbus is what I got my son for his mountain bike. They simply can't be beat.
I'm using the All conditions on my road bike.

I can't recommend these tires enough. No more flats, great grip. Never look back.

I've tried at least half a dozen, and I can't tell much difference among them--certainly not enough to justify the 300 percent difference in price between the most and least expensive. Michelins have worked well on my 22-mile round trip commute (don't have the bike today, so I can't tell you WHICH Michelin), and I like Ritchey Cross Bites, but cheap tires from Performance and Nashbar are nearly as good.
FWIW, tread isn't as important as a lot of people think on pavement. The contact patch of a bike tire is so small it pretty much cuts through water to the pavement even if it's slick. I'd look for something in the 1.5-inch range, rated for at least 80psi.
