I'm home later than I wanted, and this post deserves photos and details. But I need to alert my friends here.
The Maker Faire in San Mateo is some kind of way cool. And, if you ride your bike in they have special parking and $10 off admission.
It's not a bike event, but there is lots of totally wonderful bike stuff that's just plain fun. Tall bikes, weird bikes, pedal powered rides. Kid make-your-bike booths. It's just a blast.
It will run Sunday and be over, so if you can, be there.

Or do a youtube search for maker faire

I got cool stuff and will post video someday soon.

Wow, it's like Burning Man, but for nerds! With Legos and fire and robots and circuit boards! It looks awesome!

I'd completely forgotten about Make magazine. I remember when it first came out, and it seemed really cool, but I never got around to picking up a copy. Maybe I'll do that.

I went there with my son. It was fun, but sensory overload for a 5 year old. We only saw about 1/4 of the exhibits. Lots of people.

Sensory overload for EVERYONE. I could have stayed hours at an area within 20 feet of where we came in!
There was soooooo much, and any of it would have been worth a day. Next year we'll go both days!
