Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. After Nyack today in front of the Runcible. First he goes up to my pal Don who is wearing the GL kit and asks where the F Pcad is? That keeps happening to Don (half the time they mistake him for me) and it's starting to creep him out. Then Mattie finds me. He looked far more slender and bike racerish than I expected. And I liked the piercings. Bike racing needs guys like that.
He got shelled early by the Rocketeers, even though the ride wasn't so fast today, particularly early on. I thought I was going to get spit out, hurl on my handlebars and generally feel like crap, but I wound up having an OK day. I'm a little skinnier and I have more miles in my legs, it's starting to help.
I got all kinds of crap for not wearing my GL kit on the ride from Kenny, our Team Leader (I was wearing the new Cervelo jersey). Then he implied I was too fat for this sport. Later, I dumped him on the upper slopes of the Col du Hook at the end of the ride. He should know better than to piss off Uncle Pcad.
You know, that piece of crap Walmart bike of Fatal's didn't look as bad as I thought it would. But Fatal has style, he'd look OK on anything.
By the way, I haven't been off the bike since May 5th, is that over-training?
I was going to do Nyack today, but I had my 14-25 cassette on my training wheels. I would be spinning the F out. I think I saw you guys riding south on Piermont Rd post ride.

I would take a break, but that's me. If you don't feel the signs, then I think you're okay.
Fatal definitely has style, and his photography is pretty sharp.

Apparently, I keep riding past you on my Nyack rides. I usually have my headphones on, so if you've called me out, that's probably why I've never heard from you.
^^Haha. Nice. Where did we pass each other?

I play lead guitar. That also requires a barf bag.

it's a target bike, not walmart. I lost the plot at a light, and after sitting with my nose in the wind trying to bridge I sat up to hook onto the chase group. Impossibly, they turned out to be slower then me, so I ended up towing them around. Must say though, riding in a pack of 50+ people on open roads is pretty damn cool. Look at me, doing the nyack ride, racing. do I get streetcreds now? Nah, didn't think so.

I meant the nyack ride in addition to my real racing/ being dropped.

I have concluded that the only thing dumber than cycling is bicycle racing, and the only thing dumber than either is the Nyack Ride.
So obviously, I gravitate towards the latter. I've done plenty of racing. Nyack is more fun, a shorter drive, and there is no entry fee. It also dovetails nicely with my Poser Ethos. I like the summer course. A little climbing, 40+ miles long, a technical descent into a 90º blind suicide turn into a 13%+ Paris Roubaixesque potholed ball busting little climb that breaks things up right near the end. I like it.

So if they were slower than you, who exactly where they chasing? I figure in a ride or race if the guys ahead of us are gone, if they're hopelessly faster than the group I'm in, if they're never coming back, if all the horsepower is up the road, it's no longer a 'chase'. It's a Lost Cause.

We have an actual series like this... complete with a points system, leaders board and an actual championship jersey for the series winner at the end of the season. I can get to the start in 15 minutes from my house. It's bi-weekly (tuesday/thursday). The other "local" road races are 3+ hours away and usually on the weekends when I have my kids.
The biggest thing that sucks about this local series is that it is open to any Cat rider. You never know who is going to show up and dish the punishment... :p
