I have removable canti posts that thread into brazed on bosses that have some
paint in them. First one went in fine--second is more resistant. I don't want to strip the
threads--is there a tool to chase the threads on the brazed on piece that is threaded
to receive the removable post?

Metric tap. You will also need a tap handle. Take the canti stud with you to a decent Mom and Pop hardware store or automotive supply and use that to determine the size that you need.

I always do. Every canti boss I've encountered uses M6 x 1.0 threading; this is a standard size.

The tap needs to be a flat bottom tap to get the threads chased as far down as it will go. A good old school LBS can do it for you if you are having a problem. Good luck.
