Oh, please let it alone. I just got done trying to cover all my plants, which probably won't work because it's blowing half a gale. I'd take your cold commute in a heartbeat, many times over, vs. seeing my entire garden wiped out.

garden = time; effort (read straining back) and money ... so I hear ya. Good luck, you're right about the wind - hope it doesn't blow my bike over

just checked the forecast again - 40s in Boston in AM - maybe we'll both get lucky

Gaaaaah, hate this stupid joke of a spring we've been having. Hate it, hate it, hate it.

I'm getting used to disappointing springs ... :(

the small tray of test water that my daughter left out didn't freeze over so maybe it won't be too bad - plus the wind didn't last all night - hope your plants made it through lil brown bat

oboeguy (http://www.bikeforums.net/member.php?u=16661) - NYC and Yonkers is always several degrees warmer than us

Fleece? Seriously?

Mid 30's for me only warrants maybe the addition of a long sleeve t-shirt over the wicking underlayer.

It's pretty chilly here in Eastern Ontario (Canada). It's only 39f this morning!

We went through the frosty mornings the week before last...everything in the garden survived, tho the cantaloupes are still iffy. Covering and uncovering everything on multiple days is a PIA fer shure.

39F in Natick, MA this AM. yes, I wore fleece. I got a new North Face fleece jacket this winter and I unzipped the sleeves on my day-glo- line-green hi-vis jacket and used just the vest. The black arms of the fleece was a nice contrast. My turtleneck base layer; jacket; and vest all got unzipped pretty early on, but I was glad for the wool CAP under my helmet - especially covering my ears. My glove liners and big gloves were comfortable but at 70 degrees - they won't be used on the way home. My wool socks and liners socks fit well and my toes didn't get cold at all. My legs were just right witht he bike shorts; full athletic tights and wind pants.

I did not lose my glasses today but couldn't find the glasses I lost Friday. The rest of the week should be in the 50s I guess - back to lighter wear.

I'd say blame the bike commuters for not doing their part in warming up the globe.

Also, rumrunn6, I've had a few cold commutes, but I've never thought to put a cat under my helmet. You might be on to something warm; I'd just hate to make it upset. :D

Low 40's here, and it felt chilly. I remember posting, a balmly low 40's, not that long ago.

I was pretty cold when I left the house, but no problem, a little pedaling and I was pretty warm when I got on the train. I was shivering by the time I got off the train, though! I hate a/c, and they wouldn't let me ride the bike up and down the train aisles to keep warm.

I must be aclimated to the cold from winter commuting. I didn't think it was bad at all this morning, the only additional layer that I wore was a long sleeve jersey instead of a short sleeves.

This morning was perfect cylcing weather, in my opinion. What was it in Boston this morning, like 50 degrees? And sunny. Long sleeved shirt, long fingered gloves, shorts, and good to go. It was cool enough that I only got a little sweaty.

Excepting last week, the last 6 weeks have been great for me.
I like the cool weather and spring sunlight.
Left the helmet and sunglasses at home.
Wearing a nylon ball cap, turning the brim up when I'm not pedalling into the sun.
Yeah baby!:)
The helmet will go back on when the heat is turned on for venting.
I won't need the cat under the helmet trick until next winter.

I had a sleeveless base layer under a long sleeved jersey, and had my windstopper tights over my bibs. I took my jacket, but it stayed in my bag. The ride home tonight should be a little nicer.

We had polar gale force winds this weekend, I could not find my longs so rode in shorts, with a thermal base layer, thermal hooded top and cycling top with my rain jacket on, 2 pairs of socks, beanie, gloves, etc.

I figured if Scottish folk can go trapesing about the highlands in kilts then my knees would be fine. I was wrong  Never thought my knees could get so cold

That does sound nice. Its only been this warm for a week or so here. I was in Cancun last week and it was HOT!!! So this actually feels comfortable even with the highs hitting 90.
