I just bought some Michelin® Megamium Road Tire but for some reason they wouldnt fit on my wheels. I have an relatively old bike and old wheels. Is this normal? Should i stretch the tires first or is this too small?

What size weher the one's you took off? It's entirely possible that you have a 27" wheel especially on an older bike

27" wheels?
I don't know, some tires can be tight, just how much smaller is it. I use spit to lube the last portion of the tire bead to get it over the rim.
the old tire says 27 x 1 1/4
so theres no way this will ever fit?

nope :(
See if you can return them, or sell tham on e-bay or something.
You need 27" tires, not 700C

I took the bike to the bike shop and he said it should fit, then he said these tires are non-refundable. Now I know why. :\
Well anyways, I needed new wheels sooner or later so I guess this is a good time to get 700c rims. Would I need to get some 700c tubes as well or would the old one from the 27in work?
or, go back to the bike shop, tell him he gave you the WRONG TIRES and he's responsible, and that you should at LEAST be able to get an exchange.

I have a hard time believing ANYONE at a bike shop, no matter how scandalous would tell anyone that a 700c tyre would fit a 27" wheel, if the person had mentioned the 27x 1 1/4" size needed.

700c rims may not work with a frame designed for 27 inch wheels. The issue is brake placement.
As for the tubes, you could probably make a 27 inch tube work in a 700c tire. It might not be ideal. Keep in mind, though, that most 27 inch rims were drilled to accept schrader valves and most 700s are drilled for presta.
The bike shop should make good on those tires. If not, find another bike shop!

Tubes are pretty cheap. Just get some 700c tubes. The bigger issue is how far you can adjust your brake pads on your calipers. If they can't be adjusted down far enough, you'll need to use a drop-bolt. 700C is 622mm and 27" is 630mm.
Walmart sells 27 inch tires cheap. They aren't fancy, but you can find them there. Nashbar often has tires on sale

Personally, I would not go back there. Find another shop. Losing a few bucks to learn that shop is run by crooks is not pleasant. But cheaper to learn now than later.

Yup. Or you can ask ngateguy for the one he's not using. On a recent ride, he punctured his tyre badly and there were no bikeshops open anywhere that day. He tried to gamble at both K-Mart and Wal-Mart and got desperate. He ended up walking out of the Wal-Mart with a 27" tyre for his 700C rim hoping to somehow make it fit. It of course didn't work. We ended up stacking layers of his Mr. Tuffy liners to reinforce around the puncture. It worked well enough so he could ride the 20 miles back to the Jeep but he didn't want to stand in the long return line at Wal-Mart (daylight was beginning to fade) so he ended up stuck with a useless tyre.

When we asked my wife for suggestions on what he should do with it, she told him to give it to the neighborhood kids along with a stick so they could roll it around on the sidewalk. :D

Honestly how ****ing stupid is this a**clown? I just about could teach a ******** monkey the difference!
