Hey, I have road bike, and was wondering what a good trailer or rack would be to get to transport a 5'8 shortboard to the beach (about 6-10 miles away) ... was hoping someone would have some cost effective suggestions :P

Don't know about the cost, but there are commercial surfboard racks. Here's a guy in Santa Cruz with one board already on a rack attached to the back of his bike and getting a second board under his arm so he can carry both.

And here's a DIY alternative:

carver surf racks are an easy solution but they cost a bit and can be out of stock at times.
the mini fits a short board and is 99 bucks (seat post mount), that guy above has the max and its like 130? (rack mount) it worked good for my 8'6" long board but i got a xtra so i use that instead now.
Yeah the surfboard was fine but the rack was broken. I wouldnt use a surfboard rack that bolts onto the rack mounts again. Oh yeah and ive made a pvc one too but i crashed and broke that too......hmmm maybe its just my bad riding thats the problem...

Similar question here, but would like an opinion about bike brands:
I need to get a cruiser bike and then attach a rack to hold a longboard (surfboard)...4 long blocks from the boardwalk...
Just from what i see in the city (NYC), i notice that a lot of them are Schwinns.
This is what I will probably get without any input:

Bike looks pretty cute, not too expensive...
Any comments or alternative suggestions? Thanks.
