I have a old Californian. All the parts on it are old as dirt. If I jump a few curbs the back wheel seems to slide up on me Untill after a few jumps the chain pops & I get to enjoy a new head wound. I am thinking of redoing the whole thing. Any feelings on what I should get to turn this old girl in to a mean City Street Jumper. I mainly ride fast & jump off small curbs etc.. Nothing more than like 4 feet high.

Chain tensioners will stop the wheel from slipping. I reccomend new brake pads, cables and housing, grips, tires, chain if rusted. Take apart headset and hubs and clean and repack the bearings replacing and worn ones.

Dude ya don't paint a crome Californian. I'd sooner turn it into the 1st ever Mongoose Lowrider.

lmfao....yeah...I would say do the usual if you wanted to just cruise it around, treat it to some nice 48 spoke wheels, maybe some 3 piece cranks if you could find a decent deal, even some 990 brakes couldnt hurt if you could find some with brake plates.....

but for the immediate problem.....chain tensioners will do the trick....just don't get something like the old school machined crupi ones....they would bend over time and stop working....
