lets say i have profile bullhorns that take a 26.0 stem clamp. lets say i am looking for a cyclocross brake lever to fit on these handlebars... should it have a 26.0 clamp also? i think the bullhorns have a swollen clamp area. what do the rest of them measure to be? 25.4? anyone know this?

I say just get the bars you like and if they're not fat enough in the clamp area, shim it.

I would get the 26.0 ones and shim it if needed. A little intertube goes a long way.

ok i will try again:
i already have bars. i already have a stem. they fit fine. i just wanna know what the measurements of the bars are ... the clamp area is swollen to 26.0, so the rest of the bars must be more narrow. but exactly what would they measure to be? i was hoping someone would just know off the top of their head. i am assuming there is a standard measurement ..........
You could always take it to the bike shop and they could use a pair of CALIPERS to measure it. Or alternately you could measure the circumference and do a little math.

Every bicycle bar in the house measures the same. Can't believe I bothered,
Are you sure the bulge isn't 31.8 and the bars 26.0 diameter?.
The bars I saw on web had no bulge- 26.0 diameter.
I dunno- no longer care.

no i am pretty sure the bulge is 26.0 since that is the diameter of the stem bolt clamp. i will measure when i get home.... or maybe tomorrow. :p

I gotta ask. Why do you want him over at your house? Personally that is the last thing I would think anyone would want.

The next evolution in Terror. TubbyTron.
just for future reference, the diameter is equal to the circumference divided by pi.
whoops, i just realized someone already suggested doing math.
