Can a fix climb onto sidewalk?

I´ll try to explain better, when aproaching a sidewalk can you on a fix, push the bars, bringing the front tyre into the air to clear the space (+or- 7 inches of the step) and go happy (or sad) over the sidewalk?

Or the pedals may strike in the middle of this procedure, so is better to stop the bike, get down and lift it?

You mean bunny hop it onto something? It can be done, it just takes a little more planning ahead and coordination than doing it on a freewheeling bike.

yes.... and yes.

it is better not to try but sure its possible, if youve got skill .. or luck. i have been known to try the 'hope you get lucky' approach. it works about 1/3 of the time. the damn i got skillz approach has worked exactly 'not at all' times, but i got spunk and like scars so.....

getting down is easier as long as you are going fast enough and dront just drop straight down off the curb with your cranks in the way.

When I get of the curb, as ephemeral skin said, try to get some speed up. I try to visualize as if I'm stepping of the curb with my left foot and try to time my pedal stroke that way. Haven't hit a crank yet. (Watch, now that i've said that I'll crash and burn tonight on the way home).

When I go up and down curbs on my fix, I do pretty much what I've always done. Going up, I go really slowly, hop the front wheel onto the curb, and then roll the back wheel up or try to hop it up. No real pedal strike problems there. Going off, if you have a fairly durable set of wheels, I think you can just get up speed and lift up on the front wheel as it goes off the curb so that both tires land at the same time. It seems like it could only put as much stress on your bike as a little bunnyhop, which was routine for me before I went fixed.

Myself, I just avoid curbs.... Must be a wimp or something...

Don't try it. Your bike will spontaneously combust.
