Hi all, I am new to this whole fixie game and I just recently bought a mercier kilo tt. I am planning on getting a diatech goldfinger lever, but I am not sure what cables and brakes actually fit/work for this bike. Also, installation advice and pictures of your brake setup would be nice too. As you all know the mercier kilo tt comes with a flip flop hub, so all I need to do is add a freewheel? Please be thoughtful and help a newb out! Thank you

Hello what is a diatech goldfinger lever? is it a MTN bike style or road? you can put most any road brakes on this bike frame. as for cables just go to you bike shop and get a few feet of SLR brake cable housing and some a good brake cable. are you putting one or two brakes? just look at some road bikes and run your cables in a similar manner. if your installing a rear brake you will need to use some kind of clamps or zip ties to hold the cable along the top tube.

goldfinger says its a 7/8" clamp diameter~ = 22mm
it probaly is too small for the 25.4mm area of the drop bars it comes with (as in you'd have to take off some bar tape to reveal the lower, smaller diameter part of the drop bars, a little fugly and unnessasary)
go get something that has a 25.4 or above clamp diameter~

and yes if you want to ride it singlespeed instead of fixed: you'd have to buy and install a freewheel on that otherside of the hub after you flip it.

My brother just bought a tektro r350 with a 39-49mm reach and its rubbing against his tire which is weird because the mercier kilo tt pro comes with this same exact brake caliper. why is this? Is there anyway to fix this?

I had this problem. my front wheel was a little out of round so I had to true it to make it perfectly round. then I rode my bike and used my brake a bunch to wear the pads down a bit. after that, I adjusted the caliper so that the pads were closer to the rim, thus raising the top of the caliper that was rubbing against the tire.

your lbs should be able to help you out if this doesn't make sense..
