I've been thinking. I do alot of that when I can't sleep.

I want to set myself some goals for things to do before I die. So far I have:

New Zealand Ironman - 3.8km cold lake swim, 180km cycle, 42km marathon.
RAAM Race Across America
Paris-Brest-Paris
Tour every continent.

I might do other Ironmans if my first one goes OK. I am also on the lookout for other challenges.
anyone else?

Publish 20 amazing books of photographs
Work as DP on no less than 10 mind blowing films
Own a Pinarello Montello and ride it to work
Get one of the the Olson twins and Estella Warren in a menage á trois
Deny said affair to the press
Inspire the youth
Make the old wish they were young

And after I die? Someone amazing will write the then musical equivalent to Nico's Eulogy to Lenny Bruce

Move to Europe and spend ridiculous amounts of time touring the Alps.

Return to the infamous Gordon River Road in Tasmania with a new chain just to make a statement.

New Zealand's South Island seems interesting, too.

Visit Australia and New Zealand. Take my bike to Germany and ride from Dresden to Luebeck and see all the places where Johann Sebasian Bach lived and worked. Perform in a major symphony orchestra at least once. Go to Scotland. Take the Tran-Canada Rail from one coast to the other.

The whole twins together thing has always mystified me. Anything even quasi-incest just creeps the hell out of me...

You're right...one would have to ignore the fact that they were sisters.

Ahem...as we were saying...goals:
I still need to ride a century.
Potentials are parachuting and hang gliding.

Crap, that's gonna take two lifetimes...but at least I'll have new knees for the second one...

6) Scale the top 14 peaks.
7) Dive into the trench on the alvin.
8) Take trip into space.
9) Fire shoulder mounted rocket launcher.
10) Run a marathon.
11) Finish a triathelon.

possibly possible:

1)get a phd. in astro physics
2)learn german and japanese
3) play japanese video games
4) start playing video games all weekend long again (with 4 hours of cycling a weekend)
5) make a lot of money and own a nice stone farm house with at least 100 acres of land and the house smack in the middle of it
6) get an efficient and usefull car and have it work well for at least 15 years
7) go to japan and most of europe. maybe even do some bike riding there
8) get all the hair lasered off my body (i hate that shaggy feeling! especially in the crack!)
9) go really fast on a bike.
10) make myself a sixpack
11) once i get too near to dying and too decrepid i want to have life enhancing alterations done to me. if it's genetics that would enhance regenerative abilities i would like to have it done asap.
12) and oh yes. like 165 i must detach myself from the net
13) i would also like to watch good porn and imitate it with a GF and only the GF :D

1. Find a job that I ENJOY, which allows a comfortable lifestyle (I'm not looking for a huge house and a summer cottage, just to live comfortable within my means).
2. Spend more time with my wife (on and off the bike)
3. Go camping at least twice a month all year round.
4. Even though I'm not ready right now, down the road, I would love the opportunity to raise a child.
5. Never buy an animal when there are so many great dogs who need to be rescued.
6. To give people more than they ask for, while expecting very little in return.
7. Never miss an opportunity to make a friend over a pint.

I think #1 is the only Unicorn of the bunch. :o

Oi Vey! Things to do before I die. Let's see.
1) Become immortal.
2) lose 30 lbs and 8 inches.
3) Run the Bare to Breakers...oh...er... uh...I meant the Bay to Breakers
4) Find a husband who enjoys riding, hiking and living uh dare I say it, naked.
5) Stay for a month in Almeria, Spain every year
5) Then another month in Cap-d-agde, France.
6) Win the lotto so I can afford to do all of these things. Hey I won $104 last week! It can be done!
7) Find the cure for the common cold, then I don't have to win the lotto!

OK, if you were told you had two weeks to live, would you die in bed or hospital or whatever or would you kill yourself doing something crazy like jump off a building???

Im not sure about this one. Cos the doctor might be wrong and you might go and kill yourself for no reason

I'd prolly just do waht I always do..but be a bit more reckless. Just do things I normally wouldn't do, but not quite as extreme/suicidal as taking a high dive off the goldden gate bridge

After insuring that the doctors were correct (don't want to be too rash here).
Go to either Sipadan or Cozumel (santa rosa wall) and do a VERY deep dive.
Nitrogen Narcosis on the way down, 02 toxicity beginning at 100 metres causes blackout
and down I go. . . .

Heh, "goals to complete after death."

I've heard of people having dead man switch programs. Then they go on vacation and forget about it and when they come back, every message board, coworker, and friend thinks they just died.

Climb all 46 peaks of the Adirondack Mountains in the winter with high winds and sub zero temps. Sounds crazy, but I get such a rush from being out in bad weather conditions. I want be a winter 46er.

i actually had a person see me on the street and remark"I heard you had died!"
all that came to mind was " Wish i had known, i like a good party!"

i work a heck of a lot... guess that can sub for death in this industry :)

depending on my time frame as to how long i would have and just what shape i am in physically before near death.. i suppose i would get that half ironman in, go to australia and new zealand at least once . make sure my road bike is willed to my brother in law.. the nicest person in my family. then take my mtn bike to the furthest pit of hell i can find... and climb it.

I understand there is a mountain bike race across Greenland..If I upgrade my mountain bike that might be fun....

My lifes goals:

Buy some form of Ford GT40, perhaps a CAV reproduction. Or perhaps learn enough to build one.

Go hunting in Africa.

Do at least 100 cross country motorcycle runs, starting as soon as I'm done with college and can afford a motorcycle.

Visit Norway.

Most importantly, help repeal section 922(0) of the 1986 Firearm Owners Protection Act which banned the production of civilian transferable machineguns, despite the fact registered machine guns have never been used in a crime.
