Hi all

I've just picked up what is supposed to be a 1990 Eddy Merckx Criterium frame set.
It's got an columbus SLX sticker on it. The paint is very close to the old Panasonic team colours with pearl blue, light blue and pearl white. The chrome chain stays are in great nick and the paint is in vgc.

It looks like thishttp://www.cadre.org/Merckx/7X-7598-Z/merckx8.JPG but has the word CRITERIUM in a gold box on the rhs of the top tube near the head tube. It has "EMERCKX" on both sides of the seat tube. This frame is an 85 corsa extra. and mine seem to be an updated model

It came with a campag Athena headset and bottom bracket.

I've done some checking and cannot find too much info on this model. The serial numbers on the BB are 7CXY 5079A. These say it's a 1987 corsa extra, there no mention of the "criterium" model.

I cant shed light on the frame but those components scream 'mid-80's.

Full Super Record Merckx $800-1000...maybe more

Thanks, but it's not my bike, my frame set is very similar, same colour scheme but some newer decals.

Thinking of going new running gear for a mondernised classic.

I thought that if it was SLX than it was a corsa extra!! I don't recall hearing of a Criterium model but what do I know? What makes yours updated of the one in the photo?

From what I've been told/read the boxed logo on the top tube were introduced around 89/90

Apparently the serial numbers were only a guide to the year it was made.
