Thinking about a Moots ti seatpost. Clamping mechanism looks primitive and a pain in the butt to place the saddle rails in. Anybody with experience?

Regards,
Abe

You're right about the primitive design. I had a Litespeed post 10 years ago which looked identical to the Moots and yes, it was a vitch to get the seat rails in.

Dieses ist ein Dinosaurier eines Designs. Blick anderwohin.

Regards,
AbeI've had the misfortune of playing with similar (non Ti) clamping mechanisms. RUN AWAY

Looking at the picture again now, I have to ask - how the hell does one get the rails in the clamp? I can't figure it out. I mean, obviously there's more than a little frustration and swearing involved, but what, exatly, does the actual physical process entail?

I have a similar seat post on my MTB.

Its not really that bad. TO install the saddle, slide upper lip out a little.. put on the seat(rest it on the lowers), and slide it (upper lip) back.

That's right.....you offset the upper and lower clamp halves in opposite directions and then you force the rails and clamp halves to all snap together. It is absolutely ok to swear while proceeding.

I have to say I'm a little disappointed...I was hoping for something more dramatic and potentially bloodletting than that.
