Hello,

I am travelling to Central Europe late sept early October. Over some free days I plan to ride some of the famous climbs of the TDF epecially interested in the Alpe D'Huez. Can anyone provide some information regarding how late in the season snow comes and closes the routes? I may be in the French Alps as late as the middle of October. Also if anyone can provide info regarding bike rental in the Huez ares (borg d'ossians?) I read that bike shops close at the end of sept. ANY info is greatly appreciated.

If you google "bike rental alpe d'huez" you'll get lots of places (but you knew that, right?).

These 2 sites have information about most Alpine climbs:

http://cycloclimbing.com/alpspass1700paved/index.html

http://will-davies.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=104&Itemid=137

While this page shows if a col is open at present (http://www.bison-fute.equipement.gouv.fr/acces-aux-cols/listecols.do?nom=&codeDpt=0&massif=Tous&typeCol=X&pager.offset=100) (it is in French), I'm not aware of a site that tells when passes close. But, if you find one, let me know so I can put it in the archive.
