Foo - Rain-X

Is this stuff any good? I bought a bottle of interior and exterior Rain-X a while ago but never applied it. The problem is that I've heard is that the exterior solution wears off when I use my wipers. Is this true? I don't see the point of having it if it is.

That stuff is great! It does wear off after a while, but its not like the second you use your wipers its gone. I used that stuff religiously for years. Loved it!

Now I get the wiper fluid that has some water repelling additives. It doesn't work quite as well, but is a much more cost effective solution and is always a window clean away.

I used to deliver blood for the red cross in Portland and the surrounding areas. A fair amount of rain on the routes.
Used it all the time. Good stuff.

The stuff that you wipe on and then let haze and then polish is great. I would say it lasts for weeks, at least. The stuff that you just spray on seems to last about one storm.

Follow the directions and clean your windshield thoroughly before applying.

It definitely helps your wipers get the rain off (or it runs off on its own at high speeds and light rain), and a coat lasts several weeks to months, but it also seems to appear hazy in strong glare, which I found really annoying, so I quit using it.

I used to use it. It's great stuff. Never had to use the wipers. The slant of my windshield caused the rain to roll UP.

Many of us here in Seattle use it and swear by it.

If it works in Seattle, then I guess it'll work in NH just fine. I went ahead and applied the exterior stuff to the windshield and back window (which has no wiper). The haze was difficult to remove, but enough buffing with a cotton cloth took care of it. I sprayed the windshield with a garden hose just to see how it behaved. The water slid right off. I'll try it out in the next rain storm to see how it goes. Would normal car wax work as well?

yeah, it wears off- its like waxing your car. over time, it needs a re-application. I put it on every couple months, I'd say. (Rain-X, that is. waxing I can only tolerate twice a year).

Rain X is good but seriously, Aquapel is the bomb and yes, I've tested many types.

use the rain-x in conjunction with rain-x windshield washer fluid, and their wipers... although you really won't need the wipers too much. The rain DOES run UP the windsheild!

Actually, believing it to be good because it works in Seattle is a false assumption. Seattle rains a lot, but not very hard. Rain here is seldom more than a drizzle to light rain.

That being said, I used to sweat by it in Florida where rain came down by the 5-gallon bucketful and was happy with it. It won't be enough in one of those super heavy rain storms, but for a medium rain or less you won't even need your wipes. Raindrops kind of roll upward on windshield as Siu mentioned.

I love Rain-X. I use it on my windshield and the driver and passenger side windows and apply it at the start of the rain season and when I notice a that the rain no longer rolls off easily. I used to use this on my '68 Cutlass that had a low and high wiper setting, no intermittent and have been a fan ever since. Great stuff.

We have some glass protectant at work (i work in a detail shop), and I just added half a bottle to the windshield wiper fluid in the Blazer i used to have. Talk about water running up the windshield...

Everybody talks about Rain x because it's marketed well and you can buy in just about any auto parts store...doesn't mean it's the best though!
