Utility Cycling - My Yuba Mundo build...

Internal gear hub?

My summer I'm considering building a utility bike from a Yuba Mundo frame. One of the reasons I want to do the build myself is so that I can add disc brakes (at least to the front wheel). Does anyone have any experience using an internal gear hub on a cargo carrying bike? The Yuba Mundo apparently experiences very little frame flex when carrying a load so I'm thinking this may be a nice feature. I was looking at the SRAM i-MOTION 9.

I talked to the folks at Yuba last year about the Mundo. Its a heavy bike, of course, for heavy loads. They were offering a igh build, using a sram P5 cargo hub, which hubstripping.com did not review very highly. Except for the rohloff or the nuvinci hubs, I don't think current offerings in the igh area are up to the capabilities of the Mundo. Also for what its worth, the big dummy fork, the pugsley fork, or the instigator fork should allow a disk-ready option for the mundo and should be quite capable of handling what you can dish out. I'm not a shill for surly, I don't even own own. Just seems they're offering the right goods.

By the way, it looks like Yuba reduced the weight and now offers the Mundo frame in one piece, I don't know exactly how that differs from the past, but thats what the website states.
