I live in the NW burbs, but work in the loop. In that list, I've been to Grafton (few years ago) and Opart Thai (recently), both were good.

i like buttered whole wheat bread, sharp cheddar, and dill pickle slices. i like it simple.

I HATE when people mess with the classics like Grilled Cheese, Clubs, or BLTs.

Grilled cheese:

Soft, white "Wonder" bread (or local equivalent)
American Cheese (Land-o-lakes, preferably), preferably not "singles"
Pan-fried in 100% salted Butter

not dangerous at all, its even recommended you oil or brush butter on the plates

I went out to one of the local mom 'n' pop diners for lunch today, and had two grilled cheese sandwiches, some big honkin' fries, and a chocolate milkshake. Yum.

(None of this BLT stuff, either. White bread and cheese.)
