What sort of crank is it? Is it brand new?

I think if it's new, it should be applied with a Newton-meter to make sure you don't void the warrantee.

What kind of crank? Why do you ask?

If you have a crank with a square tapered hole that keeps coming loose, the crank arm has been hosed and won't stay in place no matter what you do.

Ok I see you got a Redline forged with no instructions. Well first thing is the b.b. cups. Yo can install these partially by hand then finish it off with a rubber mallet so you get no gaps on the frame. The cups must seat evenly all the way around, or your b.b adjustment wil be screwed. Next is the spindle, spacers, lockrings etc. The flanged area on the spindle is where your sprocket is going to fit against. The other side with all those threads is your non drive side. (non drive side with no sprocket) Now grease the b.b bearings and place them balls down in the cups. Now in the parts you have there should be a bigger washer than the rest that fits on the no drive side of the spindle. Place that on for this is what will rest in the b.b and stop the spindle from passing through. Put on the adjuster nut, keyed spacer, and lockring do not tighten yet.
On the drive side you should have a reducer for your sprocket. Place this on the spindle and put your chainring on. Now place the drive side arm on the spindle, then the non drive arm. Now tighten the fixing bolt down not the pinch bolt on the arm. To adjust the b.b get the adjuster nut hand tight so when you jiggle on the crank arms there is no sloppy movement in the b.b. then tighten the outer lockring. If this pocedure slips you need to hold down the adjuster nut, then tighten the locknut, After you achieve the right b.b. adjustment secure the pinch bolts on the cranks arms.
You are done now put your chain back on and ride away!
