Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. This monday I wanted to get on my bike every day, and ride 300 (estimated) kilometers this week. I'm thinking of giving up b/c it's not fun anymore. (I'm at 205, and I have two more days to do it).

Just keep sayin': "I'll feel better after...I'll feel better after"
I have another trick. If I'm not sure whether or not I want to do something, I start doing it, then decide.
So, just get out there, procrastinate for about an hour....then BINGO, you ride's almost over.
go Pano, it's ya birthday!
No ride is fun if you're still sore from the day before. What's been your overall plan and timing leading up to this week? Was the 300 realistic for your current level of fitness? If not, chances are you are overworking yourself and not giving your body enough recovery time.
Setting realistic goals is essential to keeping psychologically fit and maximizing overall enjoyment. How you answer will aid us to helping you - be it through better planning, nutrition or technique.

1. Recovery is as (actually more) important as riding time. Make sure you allow your body that much needed recovery. Listen to your body and follow its commands.
2. I try to vary my rides to make them interesting to me. Somedays I will be a speedster, somedys an explorer. I try new routes, meet new people. Sometimes I will have breakfast in the middle of the ride at a restaurant, just for variety. New places, new things.
Sounds like your goal of 300 may not be what you need at this time.
Keep riding fun.

The reason that us regular riders can crank out the miles without thinking is that we enjoy riding. I dont do it to keep fit or lose/gain weight. Cycling is its own rewards, and anything else is a bonus.
If you have just started, or havent ridden much long distance, then you need to extend your range gradually, and give yourself plenty of recovery time.
Pick routes that are enjoyable and take time to enjoy them, rather than stare at your speedometer or the road ahead.
Ride with buddies of similar capability. Go exploring new places.

just find some senic (sp?) place to ride and look at the world around you. then, just ride, 100km in two days is not impossible, but is it if you think its impossible. Stay positive, say "I'm going to do it!" and mean it. come 300km you will simle!
good luck!
about working up to higher goals i have to agree from recent experience.
i'd been dealing with some overuse injuries and my miles have been low. i had my first 100 mile week and i ended up feeling sort of half sick for like a week afterwards - like the way you feel after 90% recovering from a flu or something. it was only three rides but i was used to 20 milers and these were all 35.
Yo Boze - what did you end up buying? How do you like it?
