Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Quick Question: Sugino Messenger for 1x9

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Is there any reason I won't be able to utilize Sugino Messenger crank arms for a 1x9 drivetrain? I'll be using a 9 spd. Ultegra rear derailleur. Any thoughts or experiences? I know this is a geared bike related question but still thought it would be best to ask here.
Thanks!
Should be fine with a 3/32 ring; not sure what the chainline to your gears of choice might look like with the standard bb....

I'm not sure if you will have issues with dropping your chain but if you do. Get this.
