Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Pardon the title, I meant 2 X 10.
Bengeboy posted this thread on the touring forum. http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?p=9045822#post9045822
I thought I would add the subject to the CX forum.
The SRAM Group have brought their four component arms – SRAM, RockShox, Truvativ and Avid –together to create their first complete mountain bike groupset, dubbed XX. It's packed with features and technology, exceptionally lightweight – and expensive – and ups the ante of performance for the cross-country set. BikeRadar's technical editor James Huang headed to Borgo Pian del Mucini, Italy to find out more.

This could be the ultimate performance Groupe for faster MTB and Cyclocross use. At $2500 it better be good! They should have named it $$.
The rear derailleur is compatible with Sram brifters, I'm less sure about the front. The system uses 10 speed road chains.

If it uses the cable pull that their mtb groups use, it won't work with their road shifters. You would only be able to run it with a flat bar then. Anyway, the ultimate cross group already exists. It's called Rival/Veloce/105 :)

according to the article it shares the same pull as the road group on the rd, intresting. Being a rival user I am glad to see some more cassette/rd options. An 11-36 will be available.

I'm just happy that there will finally be a high quality 11-32 10 speed cassette on the market.
That is one sexy cassette, boy.

Nope, it's road shifter compatible. The stuff makes me drool.

I like that crank, a 45t & 30t with custom 11-26 10 speed cassette would be ideal for loaded touring, off-road & century rides.
I'll have to start a quiver of bikes.

Is that a combo of the 3 groups or just each one individually? I've always had a soft spot for Campy.

Maybe he meant you could buy all three complete groups for the price of XX group.

For $600 I can buy a complete Veloce group on ebay.

The XX groupe @ $2500 includes a fork. It's $$, but it adds options that did not exist before.

Just grabbing the crankset to give you different gearing options that weren't previously available would be enough for most people. Couple that with a Rival group/11-28 cassette, and you've got a really nice cross setup.
I've been looking forward to this for a while, and I'll probably get the RD for a stupid low gear for Everest Challenge...
And I'll probably run it on my cross bike otherwise, so that I can have a lower gear and still use my standard crank w/power meter :)

What the fu-oh wait, you're in California. I was going to call you crazy for putting your SRM through a CX season but I guess you're not dealing with the slop we get up here in Ontario. That would be a nice bonus then.
