I am relitively new to the sport, and am planning on moving to Tucson soon and getting really into it. I've done riding every summer in Colorado, but have always rented since I never had a bike. I looking mainly at XC, and prolly a little freeriding here and there. I'm a student and have around $1000 in graduation money to spend, and I want to most I can get for my money. The local shop wants me to go for either a Cannondale Jekyll 400, a Trek Fuel 80, or a Gary Fisher Sugar 4+. They all fall around $1100, which i am willing to spend for a good bike. Are there any suggestions or recommendations any of you can lend to me? If there are any other bikes, let me know. Any help is greatly appreatiated. Thanks.

Specialized FSR XC (http://www.specialized.com/SBCBkModel.jsp?spid=6764) Proven design, same frame as last year's Rockhopper FSR best bike for the money and the only sub $1000 dual squish I'll recommend. For about $1200 you can get an upspec'd version FSR XC Pro (http://www.specialized.com/SBCBkModel.jsp?spid=6757)
