Hey all-

I was just wondering if anyone could help me out on the value and model of this Cannondale. It's located pretty far away from me, but if it was a stellar deal and worth it, I would drive up to get it. Any help appreciated.

Thanks,

My opinion won't be popular in this forum, where vintage steel lightweights from Italian framemakers are very popular, but I think an aluminum Cannondale frame is without peer.

The 3.0 Frame was lighter and stiffer than any other frame available, at any price.

That 1995 Cannondale will pedal like a rocket, it will be pure efficiency, there will be no lost power to bottom bracket flex, the bike will handle confidently, it will have none of the wriggliness of steel.

I think you'd be hard pressed to find a better frame. However, all that being said it is not worth driving an hour for at $200. Cannondales are ubiquitous and should be cheap if the bike does not have STI shiftrs or a cassette hub.

A set of Kelly Take-Offs will make the downtube shifters perfectly acceptable.

The value in that C'dale might just be that its a $200 ticket to buy a current Cannondale SuperSix for only $1400 with the frame trade-in program. That $200 would let you save $2400.

I still think a lightweight racer should be designed to maximize the efficiency of the human engine and to go fast. Colnagos can be beautiful, but any aluminum C'Dale is a "better" frame in my opinion.

However, it is no bargain at $200.

You guys remember my mint SR800 FedEx lost? Sold it for $400 in less than hour. Keep in mind that it was mint with less than 20 miles on it.

I could sell that C-dale for $225 in Tampa.

Thanks for all the great advice guys, but it sold already. And it was far too far away if it wasnt a bargain. I like the look of those older C-dales though.

Remember that if you want a 3.0 Cannondale there is no difference, frame wise from the highest end bike to the lowest. They all had identical frames. Only the paint scheme, model number, and and components were different. That being said don't pass on the SR900 w/Campy Athena to get the SR300 w/Suntour Blaze.

I speak from experience. Suntour made some good stuff. Blaze, however, wasn't.
