General Cycling Discussion - Come on then, show us your bike!!!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Hi Guys,
This was a popular thread when it ran a while ago, so with the new influx of members *welcome all!!! :)* so here it is ressurected..

Ekk, sorry for the life size picture :o
My Sandy Gilchrist is in my profile picture, but I'll try to find a better view.
My other bike is here! My Flying Scot (sans pedals) (http://freespace.virgin.net/bob.reid1/page7.htm)
Mine is the yellow one, my wife's is the violet one. They are waiting patiently in the Vittorio showroom for us to pick them up after we waited for three months while they were being built.
Cheers...Gary
This was my dream bike when I first got it. Still is!

Anyone, (Fubar) know how to combine all my pics into one post, or do I have to do each one seperately?

If I have done this correctly this should be a link to the picture of Yorick I already posted over on the Commuting Forum. Yorick is my dreadnought daily commuter with all the fixin's. I figured it was better not to take up more server space.

I haven't yet taken pictures of Dolce or the bike I recently finished building, but I will try to do so soon.

It's a '98 Cannondale F700, with rack lights and slick tyres for commuting.
PS I nominate Rich for the Longest Seatpost In The World Award.
Well, since I don't have a camera, I can't post a picture of my actual bike. Here's my road frame though. I own the yellow one.
...and my track frame. Just imagine this one painted in Team Saturn colors. :D And, it's a 100% pure track frame, not a wanna-be like the one in the picture. And, if you were wondering, it is the same model the national team rides...they're just painted in red, white, & blue!

Yo, Bikeman! :)
You look like you've got the same blinkie on your Trek that I love!
If it is, you might want to secure it with cable ties or rig another
mount on your own. If it isn't, you still might need to. :p
(I would like to know: where is the "lost and found" for missing blinkies? There must be enough of them to light up New York.)

Actually, those are bontrager cranks. But you were right about the pedals.

I have noticed that it is starting to get loose in the clip holder that mounts on the seatpost. Actually I picked it up (along with 3 more like it) at Sears a couple of years ago. It was a no-name brand at one of those counter displays and was directed at kids to put on their bikes and school backpacks. They were something like $4.95/each so a bought a bunch. They seem to be the exact same construction as some of the name-brand ones and have multiple flash settings, came with the mounting bracket and even a safety yellow arm band. Couldn't beat the price. Hmmmm. Makes you kind of wonder how much those fancy ones at the local bike shop are marked up when they are charging twice to three times the price. Can't be that much better.
I'll take you advice on securing it better on the bike.
Thanks:)

Hey V, are those Selle Italia Max Flite Trans Am saddles? And if so how do you like them? I guess that's a silly question considering you have them on all your bikes. :)
I've been thinking about getting one of those.
I was looking more at the Trans Am Flite. (not max). Have you ever tried those?

Good call, DG!
I like the Max Flite TAs quite a lot, as you noted. I have wide-ish sit bones and I find that traditional racing saddles are a wee bit narrow. And the cutaway DOES make a difference. Very comfortable saddles that I can ride all day long.
HAving said that, I do have some issues... First, I still haven't quite managed to get the saddle dialed-in on my MTB. As you can see by the picture, I keep trying different positions and rakes. I think the problem is two-fold, (1) I'm just used to a roadie position, (2) my MTB stem is too long and high and I should get one shorter and lower to more closely reseble a road bike.
The othe thing that I don't like is that, after a while, the elastomer under the front rails starts to squeak! It's not the end of the world, but the last thing you want to hear when you spend hours keeping your bike maintained is a squeak when you pedal. [No, it's not the seatpost or the clamp.] This is a documented problem with the Max, and SI says to either squirt some spray grease into the rail cups or send the saddle back for servicing.
I plan to do the former.

Thanks V. I have been using a Selle Italia Sphere for the last couple of years and love it. But the elastomers are broke and I'm afraid it's on it's last legs. It also squeaked terribly when I first got it but it was the plastic insert on the underside in the front rubbing on the leather. I removed it, put a Armor All on the leather, replaced it and it hasn't squeaked since. They don't make the Sphere any more so I'm looking for a replacement.
Pricepoint has the Max Flite TA for $54 bucks. If you know of anywhere that has them cheaper, let me know. Thanks!
