I just bought the folding CaddieUp in red from eBay. I picked it up for a little over $300 (with shipping). I wish I was closer to Texas so I didn't have to pay the $100 shipping.
I'll post some thoughts on it once I've gotten the bike fully set up and adjusted. But here are my initial impressions:
It arrived with a bent fork which I had to bend back into shape with pliers and a vise. I'm a little nervous about this about the saftey and longevity of this fork. In his instruction sheet he mentions to try and bend the fork back in place. Must be a common issue. There were big scratches on the body and fork. The welds are okay some are uniform other areas are built up and uneven.
It's alright for the money I guess.. I wouldn't pay any more for it though. It's heavy and the components are crap. Kinda takes me back to days I could only afford a Huffy BMX. I own a 08 Specialized Sequioa Comp so I know what a good bike should be. I wish I could've gotten a folding version of the Lamborghini road tandem. By all accounts it sounds like a step up in build and components. But I wanted something that folds that I could possibly throw in the trunk of my Camry either or my Saris Bones rack.
The folding tandem I REALLY wanted was an Greenline aluminum 7 speed which was $250 more and they don't carry it anymore. It would've shaved a few pounds off and looked nicer. Did I mention this thing is HEAVY? It's gotta be 50lbs. easy.
Right off the bat, I will need to swap out the rear handle bars. They are way too low for my girl who is about 5'9". I'm looking into old school ape hangers that have a 12" rise. Hope it doesn't bump into my ***** though.
The rear seat may also need replacement. It's been moved back all the way but it still feels like I'm right over the pedals. I'm going to attempt to flip the mount around to shift it back some.
More to come.. (Still need to adjust the deraileurs, deal with the seller over the scratches, and pictures)
