Folding Bikes - How did I ever live without this Park Tool Workstand

Makes life so much easier. Much nicer to clean and lube a derailleur when it's at eye level and you can get to both sides of it.

Proper tools and equipment make the jobs much easier.:thumb: I have a PCS-4 (http://www.parktool.com/products/detail.asp?cat=23&item=PCS-4) and love it. I had to get a heavier duty stand because I work on a lot of the heavier bikes like the Raleigh Superbe ~40#:eek:

contemplating on getting one if i can justify the cost but it's really nice as i am starting to work more on my bikes. i noticed that i spent more time with my bikes now than anything else.

Next thing you know you'll have 5 of these things like me.

Get a stand and you'll do a lot more. I'm not sure how to describe this thing but my Speed P8 pedal on the left hand side kind of "floats" sometimes. Instead of having real even pressure all the way around every once in a while it kind of feels like for a second there's no pressure on the pedal for a super split second around the 10 o'clock position if you were viewing from the side.

While I had it on the stand I dropped the chain from the front ring, took the cranks off and checked all the links to see if one was hung. Took the pedals off and greased them and then took off, cleaned, greased and re-torqued the bottom bracket

One of those things worked. No more "float".

My point here is that I'd have probably never tried to do any of this stuff with the bike just leaning on a kickstand. And none of those things takes more than a few minutes with the right tools and access.

darn. now i know how helpful the stand is ( i know, i am guilty also as i have about 5 folders in my arsenal now). there was this guy from CL who was selling his Bike Stand like yours for $75 (used one). i emailed and haggled and asked if he'll take $50. never heard from him and the listing was gone after one day. oh well - i will keep on looking at CL. i went to my LBS just today and he helped me a lot with my RD. he had my bike hooked to a stand and you're right - it is so much easy to work on the bike when you're fixing something at eye level. i myself at this point is working on my bike on a kick stand and since i am an old guy my back will sometimes not cooperate.....

Everything I had at home took a trip through the stand this weekend. Forgot to take a pic of my kids Ignio folder which was up. She crashed and burned this morning and I put the bike up to make sure it was okay.

Operator error.

While I had the stand out every thing else got a wipe down and derailleur and brake adjustment.
