This bike is an utter luxury. There is no possible justification for a guy like me owning such a machine. There is nothing it will do that I can't accomplish on my less pretentious retro grouch bike - except, of course, for scoring poseur points. This bike does it.

It has a Thompson stem and seat post and a Brooks Swift saddle. The handlebar is a Kestrel carbon and I even made a custom length carbon stack spacer for it. What freaks out the bike guys is the Chris King hubset and the utterly pointless Salsa titanium skewers. The non-bikers are impressed by the light weight and the Flight Deck computer that shows what gear I'm in.

I may not be fast but I can still look good riding slow.

It's a 2,000 Klein Quantum Race. One of the last Chehalis, Washington built Kleins.

Thats not a poeur bike- That is just a bike for others to drool over.

Quality works and you know it. C.K. Hubset- NICE.

But this is all practical stuff on a very good frame. Just because others are jealous- that's not your fault. It's just that other riders spend their money on Poorer quality C.F. frames and expensive wheels that look good without being good.

But why the H*ll did you put a brooks on it. One of those nice white saddles that the pro's use would have turned it into your poseur bike. But I suppose you would have needed the Team kit to go with it and we know that this can be dangerous for this forum as I believe red is your favourite colour.

If I had to ride a bike based on my average speed, I'd be riding a beat up X-Mart Special.

Nice bike.:thumb:

Nice looking ride. The lack of decals and stickers removes any Poseur potential. The Brooks is so heavy that it bent the seat post, you need to get a CF post.

Actually, there are subtle graphics on the frame but they aren't decals or stickers. Klein painted the whole frame a darker gray color then masked off the graphics and painted the silver gray to white fade over it. I'm kind of disappointed that doesn't show up in the photo because it actually boosts the poseur score.

As for the seatpost, I guess I need to lose some weight.

You must now regain your credibility by going into full personal Fred mode. You are not allowed to ride that bike in any form of roadie kit, but may only wear cotton T-Shirts and gym shorts. You don't want to mess up the bike, but you need lights. I'm thinking two helmet lights (one blinking), a helmet taillight, at least one arm band light, and one on each leg. If you can get a shirt or jacket that lights up, that's even better.

You'll also need a pack. Go to the Army-Navy store and buy an old rucksack. Fix any holes with Duct Tape, preferably bright red, green, or yellow.

Sweet ride, though. I envy you.

Not a fred mode unless you throw away the saddle bag and flip the stem.

Of course you've got a mini-DVD player in the seat bag and a mini TV mounted on the bars, don't'cha?

Then you need the jersey I got. I'm on the left.

If you go slow, it gives people a better chance to see the bike.

Years back when I rolled up to a ride start with the shiny 91 Paramount OS decked out in the red/white blue handlebar tape and the blue Vittoria Rubino Pro tires, someone asked if they made the bike any faster.
My reply then was the same as now..
If You're not going to go fast..at least look good!
The CF Motobecane Imortal Force (all white) has a Union Jack Selle saddle!! :o))
