I need to get me another mountain bike, I own two, but they are getting old. I own a 99 Gary Fisher Tassajara(love that bike) and a GT Outpost. Can't remember went I got the Outpost, but it has to be atleast a 97 or older. Anyway what do you think of GT as a bike company? Who owns them and do they make good bikes?(My Outpost has been pretty solid).

They are owned by bike conglomerate Pacific (Schwinn, Mongoose, Pacific, GT and a few others)... their high end bikes are still probably ok, but their lower end stuff is crap. I assemble Schwinns at a shop now and can't believe how poor their lower end models are for this year. Assembling a few leftover '03's, its night and day difference. Personally I would avoid GT altogether but their higher end stuff still may be good.

Ok thanks. I think I will just get another Gary Fisher, maybe a Big Sir once I get the money. Do you work at a bike store? What do you think would make a nice commuter bike? I ride 16 miles round trip now on my GT Outpost, but I want to get something alittle faster.
