So what time shall we roll tomorrow?
I'd like to get out as early as possible, but as usual, I'll do whatever y'all decide!
After the thunderstorm :D
Looking at the radar,it doesn't look like rain.If I ride there is a group from the Elmhurst Bike Club riding starting at 7:00 16-19mph.Doesn't look like many forum members going, but if there is a faster group I might ride with them.

I might take off with your Elmhurst group. I think, too, that Voldemort is going...usually rides at about the same pace as the Elmhurst group.
I guess I'll wait and see what the a.m. brings. I'm more worried about the temps than the rain. I've felt cold all day today.
See you tomorrow! Crystal

Look for me and I'll keep and eye out for you in the parking lot at 7:00,I'm all packed up and ready to go,hope it doesn't rain.I will not be there if it's raining and cold like today.
Weather permitting I plan to ride tomorrow. I'll try to get registered early enough to roll out with the group.

Well, I'm out. If it was a light, intermittant rain, I'd deal. But it looks like a steady, heavy at times downpours on the way. I want to have fun, not slog miserably through 32 miles of crap.
I'm really bummed, too :( Next year I guess.

32??!! You can slog 32. We are still racing. Yuck.
Buck up buttercups.
We just saw a crew of kids wearing spin docs shirts out at colonial. They're still going. They were smiling too.

Well, we didn't go to the Udder but we did end up doing 20 around here. In the downpour. Blech. Yes, I'm a wuss sometimes :D

I rode out to the start just before seven to see if anyone was there. Didn't see anybody.
I rode the first few miles and split off at IL-23 to ride solo. Lovely 70 miles in the rain.

Just did the 62. We were the front group (4 Spin Doctor's guys) and made the call at the 3rd stop to cut it short. Was constant rain and we were soaked through and through. Of course it cleared as we neared the end. :( Averaged over 20 mph. Will have stats later.

Weather wimps!!!! ha ha
I did the century!
After not thinking anyone was coming, I was up early and got there right as registration started and rolled out by 6:35. Got wet for about 20 minutes...just showers, not a hard rain....but never any serious storms and then it cleared and it was a nice riding day. No wind to speak of.
CC and CyLowe, sorry I missed you.
I felt really good finishing up the 100 miles...not totally exhausted like I have before at that ride.
If I pay, I'm always going to ride the longest distance....call me cheap.
The pasta lunch afterward was excellent.
Met and rode with some nice people along the way.
Psimet, my bike... and 100 miles and NO PAIN. Yes!
Feels good to have a century on the books for this season :)

Murphy's Law...never cut it short...you're guaranteed the weather will improve. The 100 mile rest stop out at Darien, WI, was pretty quiet. Just a few weird die hards, say, like me!
I rode with a ton of triathletes. They are always obsessed and undeterred by weather. But, man, are they intense. Witnessed some interesting conversations.
OH and saw 2 guys wearing Aero TT helmets. Only one guy, no joke, had his on BACKWARDS!!!! Really slicing through the wind! I nearly wrecked.
I rode the full 100 today too and had a really great time. Once the weather cleared (I had about an hour of rain I think) it ended up being a nice day. I had been on the fence but so glad I went. Met some cool people too, strange that they were all ex-military. Two marines and one air force; guess they like to stay in shape.
I ended up going too actually, I thought about not going cause of the rain but it didn't really rain any here in Palatine the day before and looked just as bad so we figured we go and see how the weather was. Rode in the light rain for a bit and sucked some wet wheel(lots of manure on the roads lol!) but it was pretty nice. We did about 6 hrs including stops at rest breaks, my cousin is going to try and get more stats. It was just him, me and one of his friend's but since we are both fairly new to cycling so it felt like I solo'd 50+ miles since I suck at drafting. The end of the Udder is both brutal and fun, one of the hills near the end was all into the wind and I was going so slow, but then we went up another hill then we just coasted down hill about ~27mph for a long ways. We kept trying to find groups of riding to hang with but everyone was always a bit too fast or a bit too slow. It was me and my cousin's first century.
Those hills at the end were a surprise. I was under the mistaken impression that there weren't any hills of that size in the Udder. But the long downhill sure was sweet.

great job on your first century! YOu are right about the last 20 miles....they always kick my butt and didn't it seem that there was always wind in our faces coming in...not much, but just enough to be annoying!
