i work till 6 on Saturdays so i get a late start on my Saturday ride. rode 12 miles tonight which i used as more of a warm up for tomorrow than anything. if i don't ride at all the 2 days before my large ride of the week then it takes forever to warm up. came home and went for a short run to break in my new shoes. i didn't think i was going that fast but i beat my previous best of 16 minutes for a 1.5 mile run by 42 seconds :D its amazing what the proper shoes can do for you. i am not convinced i am going to improve that much in a single week  over all very happy.
i even had some skinny guy driving in a car yell out that i am making everybody look bad. the guy went on to say how his wife says he should be out here and not driving :roflmao2:
Seven miles along French Creek to test my new Ergon grips and bar-ends. Photos later. :)

16.5 miles, testing out my Keen sandels on the Jamis Aurora in the "Touring platform, alloy cage/alloy body toe clips".
Results: My left toe fell asleep. I doubt I will do that again.
Looking at the Speedplay Frogs to move into clipless soon. I heard they have great float for those bad knee folks like me...
50 hilly miles with some hill repeats. Grades up to 16%. I pushed hard on the hills and I'm wiped.

25km/16 miles with my better half, we started off heading to a local park, found that even our mostly smooth tires can handle some dirt :D walked down one hill, rode up a second, in the granny gear no less, at 90RPM I can go 6.5 km/h in the granny  Came out of the park and headed South, at the 23km mark we were by the Royal Ontario Museum, so we hopped the Subway :innocent: back toward home.

Absolutely awesome 36 miler out on wet limestone trails into the middle of nowhere. Got really dirty, but the Big Blue Truck yet again proves it's en epic adventure machine. Riding buddy had just washed up his Salsa.. haha.. poor guy :).
Anyway, great ride. Was in the uppper 80's with high humidity but we had a cross/head wind that really was welcome. Annoying at times, but it really kept me cool.
Also, drove to the trailhead. That was weird. :)

I participated in the "Pedal to Preserve" ride out of New Holland, PA. I'm thinking raisin bran and coffee isn't a good breakfast. Legs were tired and burning at 10 miles. Things got a bit better after drinking some water. This was Amish country, so got to see numerous buggies and a strange site of Amish girls in long dresses cutting grass with a power mower? Rode the 20 mile route, dodging quite a bit of buggy exhaust. Had my furnished lunch of hot dogs, rice crispy treats, ice cream and iced tea. Feeling much better so went back out on course and did another 10 miles.
Came home and watched a rented movie. Had some pepper steak I had cooking in slow cooker since 8am. Still restless, so took the new trail bike to the Schuylkill River Trail and rode 16 more miles. Called it quits for the day at 9pm.

Rode an unsupported century (http://www.mapmyride.com/ride/united-states/ca/van-nuys/671124434973483093) with three friends, from Van Nuys to Santa Barbara, California. Van Nuys is industrial, retail, some residential, some horse farms and Santa Barbara is picturesque sea-coast town dressed up for tourists. Took the Amtrak train back to our cars in Van Nuys.
100.99 miles with ~6,000 feet of climbing and 30-40 miles of headwind :le suck:

5 miles total. 3 miles running errands to the bank, Office Depot, and even a charity hand car wash, and then another two miles going out to lunch at Quiznos.
I rode the 70 mile course in the Spindletop Spin in Beaumont. Its very flat here on the Texas coast but a light wind, clear blue skies and cooler than usual temperatures made this a really good ride. This is my 2nd longest ride ever (a 100 miler in 1983 is #1) and the longest since I got back on the bike a few months ago but I had plenty of energy left at the end and am looking forward to a century soon.

Neil, Roarke is getting some serious "character", there. A Brooks and battlescars always look god on a bike. It shows it gets used. :D

31Km out/back Lochside Trail. Old rail bed so only gentle pitch. 17mph! My fastest on this trip ever - so far.
63.7 miles Mesquite Rodeo Bike Ride. Unlike StephenH I didn't ride to the event. I suppose I could've if I wanted to pay for a hospital stay.

Club ride: 45 miles of mostly rolling terrain, with a few ridge climbs just to keep things interesting. Of course the decents were fast and exciting also.

My Saturday's ride is posted in the thread titled "Easter Sierra Doble". Hello my brain wasn't working, it should have been "Eastern Sierra Double". It ended up being 185 miles with 12,200' of climbing. We had every kind of weather around from warm, 80 degrees, to wind and snow, yes snow.

Saturday was an interesting day here in the OC. Had me a bowl of oatmeal with bananas and raisins in it and two scrambled eggs. I was going to meet up with the my usual riding buddies for a 45 miler when I noticed dark clouds. That didn't deter me as I've only been on my new Felt frame 5 times in the last two weeks with most of my riding the week before last. Luckily, when I arrived, my buddies were there. It never did rain might i add but the ride was.... well, awful! I started getting tired within the first 10 miles and I still had a good 35 to go. Guys I usually have to slow down for were waiting for me. It was a little embarassing to say the least. Anyway, I survived and I wasn't in pain. Just having breathing issues. What happened to me? Did I bonk? I don't even remember what bonking feels like? Still I survived.

My Saturday ride was a Tour of the Lakes 68 mile ride around Baxter, MN. Started at 42 degrees never made it above 57 degrees, like it warmer. Being a flat land rider from Fargo, the hills were a challenge, my legs are still feeling it. The organizers really know how to fatten up the riders, Breakfast Burritos at first stop and lots food at every stop. Skipped most of it, think I finished heaver then when I started.

I went for a 20 mile ride on the Montour Trail near Pittsburgh. Beautiful day for a ride, clear, sunny not to hot, but I can't remember any of it. All I thought about was the shadow on my chest x-ray and what the results of the CAT scan will show.:50:
49 miles on Sat. with 2 friends in the rolling hills of NE Georgia. Fun time! Then cleaned the garage, oh well can't all be fun. Sunday did 71 to make up for it. Great weekend.

Saturday's ride was 33 miles in and out of the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. I headed up Briery Branch Road into the mountains for my first attempt at any real hills. I was pleased that I managed to gain 1,100 feet above my starting point, the last 400 feet of that at an average 8% grade.
I was chagrined to learn that going back down that last mile of road was even harder than going up it. It was a fine paved road, but the steepness of the grade and the drop off to the side set off my acrophobia such that I clutched the brakes and crept back down at about 10 mph unable to go anywhere near the right hand side of the road (luckily there was absolutely no traffic). It never occurred to me that going down would be harder than the grueling ride up, psychologically at least. Had I thought about it first I would have realized it's often easier to climb up something than to climb back down. That applies to bikes too, at least for me.
Once off that steep grade it was a fine ride back down to the valley floor. Almost eight miles of downhill with a 700 foot elevation change. I averaged 22 mph for those eight miles. I may never be able to sustain an average like that on the flats, but I can dream.

Road...even though we havent done any rides with this club yet, http://www.bikecvcc.com/cue_sheets.html ...Click on the link titled "A VIEW OF THE VALLEY" and the pdf will give you a turn-by-turn cue sheet...google-map it, and you're set :)
You ride the towpath too? I love alot of the path from Shepherdstown to Harpers Ferry to Brunswick and beyond...We also go from Williamsport until we hit the rail-trail past Fort Frederick till we get to Hancock,MD (they got a great bike shop there, too)...Good to see another 'canaler :thumb:
p.s. If you havent tried it yet, head from shepherdstown up to Dam#4....around 10 miles away

Trying to ramp up my rides. Did just over 6 miles Saturday with my wife. Not bad for an uber-clyde trying to be just a clyde.
Did 11 miles with my 11yo son along a local MUP. The ride was not what I would consider a workout, the weather was cool but it didn't rain so it was great!
