I'm trying to ride on the American River Bike Trail with a group of friends, and we're trying to limit the ride to 25 miles. Even if we have to drive to the trail, what's the easiest way to get on at? Thanks.

From Davis, to keep the ride under 25 miles, and still get to the trail, you'll have to drive for sure. I guess it depends which part of the trail you want to ride. If you want to pick it up at the start, you can park at Discovery Park and ride it from there. You could get it from the middle by parking on campus at Sac State and crossing the Guy West bridge, or towards the end, which gives you some awesome views of Lake Natoma, Negro Bar, etc, by starting at Bicycles Plus in Folsom.

from Davis you can drive get on the freeway and get off at Truxel. exit right and you will see
San Juan. Park in the shopping center next to Natomas Bike Shop.
ride out going right, you will see the Garden Highway about .5 miles down the road. exit right, then
cross the street left at the light. It will start you in Discovery Park.
