Touring - Rack recommendations for road bike?

I got a new road bike this weekend, which means I want to transform my old road bike into a light touring bike/commuter bike.

The bike is a Jamis Quest, a Reynolds 651 steel framed road bike with Shimano 105, a compact crank, and eyelets on the seatstays and the chainstays.

Most of the rear racks I've looked at are for big touring bikes or MTB- I'd like something sleek, light, and more "roadie" for my Quest.

So far the only rack I've found is the Tubus Luna/Fly (I'd get the luna). Only thing is I'm not sure it will fit on my bike- it mounts not to seatstay eyelets but to the brake bridge. Not sure if this will work with my road brakes.

Any other slim/lightweight racks you can recommend? Thanks.

The classic Blackburn EX is a light, stiff, effective 4-point rack that looks OK on a road bike.

You can mount the Tubus Fly to a bike with caliper brakes.

you might also look at Old Man Mountain racks if your frame doesn't have the required braze-ons.

I've been using the Tubus Fly for a few years now. It weighs 12 ounces, and will carry more than it's rated weight. I've bought a lot of racks over the decades, it's my favorite.

I use the Vega on my sport tourers, such as the Marinoni Ciclo. Beautiful rack!

I bought a "fast" bike to go with my touring bike. I wanted some way to carry tire irons, a tube, and multitool, plus maybe a sandwich, but I didn't want anything heavy. I looked into seat bags, seatpost racks, etc. Then I picked up an old Blackburn Expedition I had around. It's really light! I put that on and the bike was still fast!

I prefer the Tubus on my LHT for heavy touring. For what you describe, I'd say the Blackburn is about right.
