My local pastor is an avid bicyclist, as are our District Superintendent and our Bishop. I am probably too liberal theologically to ascribe mystical power to bike blessing, but the activity is arguably good social PR for cycling.

I am probably too liberal theologically to ascribe mystical power to bike blessingI am too conservative theologically to put anything into this.

This type of thing has been done with motorcycles for years.

I'd rather ride my bikes then let someone splash water on them!

The cyclists who brought their bikes to the service were also splashed. It looked very cool on the video, and any denomination was welcome!

Dude, ever spent time in Portland? I grew up there, and am glad I did.

I was impressed at how fast the comments veered towards fixies. ;)

There is a church that does "bike blessings" (and rider blessings) on one of the first big group rides in the Seattle area (the Chilly Hilly). You don't even have to get off your bike.

There also is a blessing of the fishing fleet each year as well...
