Can anyone recommend a GOOD bar wrapper in OC???
My last one did a crap job and its starting to unravel...
Thanks
The best person to wrap your bars is the same person who is best to glue on your tubulars: you!
That way there's never anyone else to blame for a lousy wrap job, or for rolling a tire due to improper gluing.

I recently started taping my own bars for this reason - no sense paying someone to screw it up. Although I'm not as good as a "pro" - I figure this will improve.
Jax in Yorba Linda always did a good job wrapping my bars - although they tended to screw up any mechanical thing...
Hi,
I am confident that Kings in Seal Beach will do a very good job but I am also pretty confident that it won't be cheap.

Not familiar with the area shops...but I agree with others saying to do it yourself. What's the worst that can happen? It comes out a little off? Then take it off and redo it, they usually have a very thin sticky tape side that can be taken off without destroying the tape. Some don't have any...it's not very hard at all, just have patience when doing it and don't rush.
I'd rather have not perfect with a few small imperfections than have to take the bike to someone, pay them, and hopefully have it done in a timely manner when it's quicker and cheaper for me to just do it myself. You'll get better at doing it yourself over time. Plus it's a good skill to have in the event that you rip yours and the local shop is closed the next morning before a race/ride. Then you're sol because you don't know how to wrap your bars or you're not going to have any for the race/ride. So, just try it yourself and if it doesn't come out, try it again...if you're frustrated find the closest shop and have them do it...
Send a note to Gretzky (or another HB BF resident)... I am positive he knows how to get it done right and he will probably only charge you a beer or two...

there is a good how to in the park tools website. It takes about 10 minutes to do it yourself. That will eat up less of your riding time. If i can do it, you can do it

The first one I did was not amazing but it wasn't awful. It is really easier than it looks.

Get tape that doesn't have adhesive on the back. DO it yourself, if you get it wrong, unwrap it and start over. Actually pretty easy!
Depends on the person that does it and their mood, not the shop. I've had dudes in every chain/shop do terrible work. That's why I do it myself!:D
Might be better off getting a local forum member to do it for ya!:thumb:

+1. The Park Tool website has a pretty good section about it. Read it through and pick up a couple packs of cheap bar tape and have at it. That's what I did. Also, look at other people's bikes that have done the wrapping themselves. There are little tricks to it that make things nice, such as letting the cables out early and using several strips of tape on the end, not just one long one. Most of all, don't rush.
Wrap them yourself. If you're not good at it, buy three sets of bar wrap and 3 rolls of electrical tape. When you mess up the bar tape, throw it away until you're on the last roll. Then try to fix the last roll with the electrical tape. After you get over spending $40, wasting half of your day off and still having your bars look like they were taped by a drunk monkey, take your bike to the closest shop and have them do it. Even if they do a crappy job it will look better than yours.

why would you need 3 sets of tape? just take it off and try again.
just go ahead and do it, bar tape is cheap, it doesn't take long to do, and it will make you feel good afterwards!
