General Cycling Discussion - Ok you super word sluthes ... need some help

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I need a kick*** cycling slogan using only the following letters;

A,C,D,E,F,G,H,I,K,L,M,N,P,Q,R,S,T,V,W,Y

The slogan should preferably pertain to road biking.
The slogan should possibly be about climbing hills.
The slogan should be limited to less than 15 letters.

Shoot!

Cadence and cascade.

Too many letters. Plus, it's a rip off of the title of an old 60s song. But it's got a yin and yang thing going.

You didn't make this easy, you know.

Why nit qwestian marc :roflmao:

If you must know ... here's the scoop. I'm putting a jersey together for a very hilly century I'm doing in September. I'm a geneticist and if you remember your basic biology DNA is composed of one of 4 nucleic acids (GATC). These bases are used in combinations of 3 (called codons) to make amino acids which are the building blocks of proteins. Amino acids have relatively long names but can be reduced to single letter designations. There are 20 of them correpsonding to the list I presented. I want to spell something out in the DNA to include on the jersey that will be a bit cryptic. I was thinking of using the names of my daughters, but I can't spell my youngest with the included letters.

You asked for it.

Thanks for all help in advance.

I like "cadence" but am not fond of "cascade." Maybe I can build off of cadence.

Thanks,

"hill killer" it is!

I really like it. As good as "DNA rider" sounds, it just won't fit the bill. "hill killer" will inspire me.

Thanks to everyone but especially MERTON.

I'll pot a pic of the graphics for the jersey when it's finished.

Very beautiful design, geneman. But why not start and stop with ATG and TGA/TAA/TAG, respectively? Or is this an important sequence from your favorite protein? Oh, and why not having the bottom strand be the reverse sequence of the top one? :)

MERTON

i prefer the "i am death" one. on black in red. it's what i'd wear. and i'd go around actin' crazy and scarin people. heh. :D

hey. can you put "cus METON said so" in small print under the "hill killer" part?

I would only incorporate an ATG if I wanted to use an "M" in my word. So technically, this could never code for a "real" protein. Translate the sequence and tell me what is says. As for the anti-sense strand, since it doesn't code, I didn't want to include it.

MERTON ... you'll get your props ... don't worry :D
