i'm putting 700c wheels on my old trek 520 designed to take 27" wheels. i was gonna use a long-reach front brake, but it looks like the cantilever braze-ons will get in the way. would it be a problem to just saw them off?

Will the canti brakes not work? You can cut them off and sometimes the post will unthread altho probably not on the 520
