Hi all, I have a two year old that is small for his age (30%). I bought a trailer last summer, but he does not care for it much. What he does love doing is riding on my road bike's top tube and holding the handlebars. I don't actually ride the bike in this manner. I just walk beside and push it. But this situation has me thinking about getting a front, or mid mounted bike seat for him. I've narrowed the choices down to two. The wee ride kangaroo and the Ibert. So I am targeting my questions at owners of these two systems.
1. I know space will be a small issue and one I am willing to work with. My main concern here is my shifters. I have barcons. Does anyone else use barcons with either of these two carriers? If so how is it working for you?
2. The base piece that is used to mount the Kangaroo. My frame is 63 cm and the distance from my seat post to my headtube is 23 inches. Will the bar stretch that far? I have looked myself and cannot find any specs on this. In addition I want to be able to ride solo. How does this bar do without a seat attached. Does it get in the way or rattle?
3. The mounting stringer for the Ibert. This looks kinda flimsy, how does it work in real life. Also I want to remove the seat and ride solo too. So will this thing be waiting there to impale me? Will it get in the way in a standing climb?
The bike I am looking at mounting this to is a Rivendell 63 cm Rambouilette.
Thanks in advance....
