Bicycle Mechanics - Part name

I just posted this on the "Touring" forum, but perhaps it would be better here. Was just wondering what this piece is called (see pic), and if they make versions that hold the front brake cable lower down or further away?

That's a brake cable housing stop. I had one of these of my 64cm Fuji Touring, which has a long headtube, and my braking was terrible - the front brake squealed and squealed and the steering vibrated every time I braked.

After replacing it with a fork crown housing stop http://www.sheldonbrown.com/harris/images/tektro1257.jpg
like this one that can be found at Harris Cyclery (http://www.sheldonbrown.com/harris/cable-hardware-brake.html), the squealing stopped instantly and so did the shuddering.

I've read a lot of forum posts about the topic of squealing and shuddering front cantilevers, and while some people have had the same experience as mine (fork crown housing stop solving their problems), others haven't been so lucky.

"Cable Stop" or "Cable Housing Stop" is what I'd call it. Some companies call it a "Brake Cable Hanger". There's different styles from different companies, but they tend to somewhat similar. What problem are you trying to address? Maybe one with a noodle will help:

Thanks you both the info and links! The problem I'm trying to address is that I am trying out a double stem set up on my touring bike, and the lower stem forces the cable to bend acutely and I would like to solve that. I'm sure I'll find a fix for that in those links. Thanks again.

hernick, I think I'm going with the fork crown housing stop (the Tektro Long Drop Front Cable Hanger may still not give me adequate clearance) Found this (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=279003) thread and think it will be the right solution for me. Thanks again to all.
